- FIELD EXPLORERS: DISCOVERING LOCAL ECOSYSTEMSLehi Campus
-
Science doesn't have to happen at a desk — investigate the ecosystems of Utah Valley through guided field exploration, nature journaling, and hands-on observation activities. Each session combines structured instruction with independent exploration, giving students room to ask their own questions and follow their own curiosity. Students will examine how plants, animals, and environmental conditions interact, building foundational skills in ecology, pattern recognition, and scientific observation along the way.
Homeschool & Hybrid Families: This course was built with you in mind. It provides the kind of structured, hands-on, place-based science experience that is hard to replicate at home — real field investigation, peer collaboration, and guided instruction outdoors. A natural complement to any middle school science curriculum.
Learning Outcomes:
- Identify and describe patterns, relationships, and interactions observed within local ecosystems using foundational ecological concepts
- Practice field documentation skills — including observation, sketching, and journaling — to record and reflect on findings across varying outdoor environments
- Demonstrate growing confidence in scientific inquiry by asking questions, making predictions, and drawing conclusions from firsthand outdoor investigation
