Course Overview
AI for College Graduates is a workforce credential offered through Talent Ready Utah and designed to help college graduates build practical AI skills they can apply immediately in professional settings. The course uses ChatGPT as the primary large language model so learners have a consistent platform for practicing core AI skills, including writing effective prompts, refining AI-generated outputs, conducting structured AI conversations, generating images, building custom AI assistants, and evaluating when AI is useful—or when another tool may be a better fit. While ChatGPT is the shared learning environment for the course, the skills learners develop are transferable across other AI platforms and workplace technologies. Throughout the course, learners progress from foundational AI use to more advanced workplace applications. They begin by learning how to navigate basic ChatGPT features, refine prompts, engage in structured AI conversations, apply privacy best practices, and use strategies for getting more useful outputs. Learners then move into creating and refining custom AI assistants, using external knowledge sources, managing issues such as hallucinations and context limits, and designing multistep prompts that support business processes. The course concludes by helping learners evaluate AI tools beyond ChatGPT, compare options for specific workplace needs, and develop strategies for quickly learning and selecting tools without becoming overwhelmed by unnecessary options.
Partnership
This course is offered in partnership with Talent Ready Utah as part of a statewide effort to expand the AI Workforce Credential across Utah’s public higher education system. Led by the Utah Board of Higher Education and developed in collaboration with Talent Ready Utah, USHE institutions, the Governor’s AI Pro-Human Committee, and employers statewide, this initiative is designed to help students build AI skills that complement their field of study and prepare them for an evolving workforce. AI for College Graduates is a workforce credential offered through Talent Ready Utah that helps recent and upcoming college graduates build practical AI skills for professional settings. Learners will practice effective prompting, AI-assisted text and image generation, structured AI conversations, custom assistant development, workflow integration, and responsible AI use. By the end of the course, learners will be prepared to evaluate AI outputs, recognize limitations such as hallucinations and bias, apply data privacy best practices, and select appropriate AI tools for workplace needs.

COURSE FORMAT: This course is delivered in a self-paced format, allowing you to access materials anytime and progress on your own schedule. Students will have until June 30, 2027 to complete the course.
