Is Art Really in the Eye of the Beholder?

This class will examine current trends in art through onsite visits that may include Wofford's Richardson Family Art Museum and Martha Cloud Chapman Gallery, The Spartanburg Art Museum, The Johnson Collection Gallery, and The Artist Collective. The instructor will cover style, technique, content, and media used to create works of art while examining their relevance to aspects of form and function. The discussion will include art that challenges traditional definitions of aesthetics, original art vs. reproduction, and how to collect art that can be enjoyed with family and friends. Participants may wish to keep a journal for notes and questions on our topics of discussion.
