Do you like to play cards? Join the Hearts Club on Mondays from 11:15-12:45 during terms at CUMC.  We play the card game Hearts and talk and laugh, oh do we laugh! If you know how to play, make sure to register (it's free) so we can notify you of any changes in dates or locations. This club will meet year-round except for December and July. Come join us!

The Knitting Club is a vibrant and welcoming community of knitters who gather every Wednesday from 4-5:30 p.m. at CUMC in the LLL Lounge at CUMC to enjoy creativity, friendship, and lifelong learning. Members work on individual projects while sharing ideas, techniques, patterns, and encouragement with one another. The club welcomes knitters with a range of experience and provides a supportive environment where members continue to learn and grow together. Many members describe knitting as “yoga for the mind” because it promotes relaxation, concentration, and a sense of accomplishment. Beyond the enjoyment of creating beautiful handmade items, the club also values service to others. Throughout the year, members participate in charitable knitting projects that benefit breast cancer survivors, homeless individuals, babies, veterans, and other community organizations in need. The club encourages fellowship, creativity, and community involvement while providing members with opportunities to develop new skills and share their love of knitting. In addition to regular meetings, members enjoy occasional social gatherings and field trips that strengthen friendships and introduce new ideas and resources. The Knitting Club will meet every Wednesday at 4:00 p.m. in the Lifelong Learning Lounge. The club will not meet during December and July. To maintain fellowship and engagement during the summer break, members will be offered two informal knitting gatherings.

The Mah Jongg Club has become an established and popular activity within the Lifelong Learning community, providing members with regular opportunities for fellowship, mental stimulation, and friendly competition. The Mah Jongg Club will meet every Wednesday at 2 p.m. at CUMC in the Norton Room of the Education Building during the Lifelong Learning terms. This is a play group rather than an instructional class. Members should already know the fundamentals of American Mah Jongg and be able to play independently. Formal instruction is not provided during club meetings. The Mah Jongg Club welcomes all Lifelong Learning members who already know how to play American Mah Jongg and enjoy friendly, social play. All members must provide their own current year Mah Jongg card.

The Outdoor Club is intended for able-bodied Lifelong Learners to assemble, often at short notice, to enjoy Nature. Activities include hiking local trails or those in the nearby mountains, paddling kayaks and canoes on flatwater or through mild rapids, birdwatching during the spring and fall migrations, or enjoying other ways of being outside. Events are announced days or weeks in advance and are subject to changing weather conditions. This allows flexibility so that we can take advantage of good water levels for paddling or variations in migration schedules for birds or optimal fall colors. Gathering locations, times, and anticipated event durations are shared with registered club members. There are no regularly scheduled meetings.

Join the Wine Club to stay informed about upcoming events and tastings, and to ensure you don’t miss out on all the fun and discovery ahead. Membership is only accessible for free to our annual members. 

The Wine Club is coordinated by Nancy White, Marie Engley and Carolyn Earley. Together, we plan engaging, educational, and social gatherings throughout the year.

We handle all event planning and logistics, so members can simply enjoy the experience. Events may take place on Wofford’s campus or at local wine shops, restaurants, wineries, and other unique venues.

We welcome your ideas! Share suggestions for tastings—whether focused on regions, varietals, blind tastings, food pairings, seasonal themes, or anything else that sparks your interest. Your input helps shape our events and keeps them fresh and exciting.

Whether you’re new to wine or a seasoned enthusiast, our goal is to create a welcoming space to learn, explore, and connect with fellow wine lovers.

Attention readers! The Wofford College Lifelong Learning Book Club will have eight monthly meetings this year to discuss historical fiction novels. Join us for one or two or all of the sessions. It is free to join the Book Club if you are an annual member. All meetings will be held at Central UMC in the Education Building on the 4th Monday of the month at 2 p.m. during the academic year, skipping November, December and June. The club will meet at Central UMC in the Education Building.
