This workshop will offer a fun drumming and dancing opportunity for all with no knowledge of music nor experience necessary. Based primarily around African Djembe hand drums, we will explore playing natural rhythms, connecting tempos (speed of music), dynamics (volume), time signatures (123,123 v. 1234,1234, etc.), the creative process, and career opportunities.
With no expectations of performing, this fun interactive workshop will introduce playing and listening techniques; a brief history of drumming; cultural comparisons; and present and future music industry opportunities. Connecting through Drums might be your first time with a drum but our goal is that it will not be your last!
Drums will be provided to all participants to use for the duration of this workshop.
