In this course we will discuss dealing with the effects of stroke. It is not only for stroke survivors, but also for caregivers, family members, and anyone who wants to help in a stroke survivor’s recovery.
There is so much to learn after suffering a stroke. We will deal with the mental aspect of recovery as well as the physical and logistical. Subjects include navigating the health care system, becoming your own best patient advocate, learning about physical therapy and setting up you own home program, what you can do to prevent another stroke, the importance of a positive attitude, neuroplasticity & how to maximize it, proprioception, how to get moving again, walking better, shoulder & arm movement, regaining hand function.
There will be open discussions and you can ask questions and raise issues. There will be live demonstrations of exercises you can do.
