This workshop includes demonstrations of popular and available artificial intelligence tools. Special focus will be given on how to use each tool. A brief introduction to Artificial Intelligence will be provided as well as a few minutes for question and answers. Participants are encouraged to bring specific tasks they would like to see AI tools address to be used as practical examples.

Capitalism has evolved from family-owned businesses to industrial capitalism to today’s finance capitalism which makes money without creating anything useful. Karl Marx considered capitalism to be an improvement over feudalism but believed it lost moral standing after a new class of oligarchs started oppressing workers. Today a tiny clique of billionaires owns most of the world's wealth. Socialists believe offices and factories should be run democratically and workers should share the profits. Socialists complain that capitalist oligarchs have literally bought our government and their lobbyists now write our laws. They claim capitalism robs the poorer nations of the world, forcing them into debt, exploiting them for cheap labor while capturing their natural resources.

America purports to be a shining city on a hill, a beacon of democracy, the best hope for mankind.

Are we really? Or are we just exploiting “the wretched of the earth” to enhance corporate profits? Our CIA regularly engages in clandestine operations, assassinations, disinformation campaigns, election fixing, secret wars, and false flags. We have 800 foreign military bases. The U.S. has killed more than 20 million people in 37 “victim nations” since World War II. Since 1945, our government has perpetrated 297 invasions and at least 60 coups.

We will look at the dark side of American foreign policy and ask if it is unpatriotic to criticize it.

Students will learn about how the great Roman Empire, declined. We will then review how various groups came in, took over parts of it, and created what we call the Middle Ages in Europe. As the course progresses, we learn about such people as Boudica, Attila (what a hun!), and Charlemagne. Finally, we will cover groups as the Ostrogoths, Visigoths, and Franks...oh my ! This was a time of great change in Europe (as well as parts of the Middle East ). The fact that it probably would not have been "big fun" to live back then, makes it a much more unusual and interesting time to study.

Please note that the Halloween week lesson will be taught in an appropriate outfit.

The course will also include learning how to express formal and informal greetings and essential phrases from ordering food and beverages to making reservations.

This is an interactive course designed to encourage members to share their travel experiences and questions relating to all of Italy’s fascinating regions.
