Summer Camp: Steel Toe Teens   

Steel Toe Teens is a 5-day indoor/outdoor summer camp created by Washington Women in Trades where girls, ages 11-14, will learn the basics of tools; safety, mechanics and skills from trained, experienced women in careers in the trades. Yes! They’ll learn to use power tools! Learning objectives include the basics of tool use; safety, mechanics and skills. Students will work together just as they would on a job, learning to respect and connect to create a project.  Trades include (but are not limited to) masonry, carpentry,  pipe trades, sheet metal and more. They’ll build a some cool individual projects to take home AND one group project to share with the community. or more info: Washington Women in Trades (wawomenintrades.com). The program is geared toward exposing and encouraging young women to pursue careers in the trades.Note, this activity is open to any interested participant regardless of gender/sex
