In this class, students will learn the basic painting skills. We will explore layout and design, tonal values and color exploration, all while learning about the medium itself. Six to eight paintings will be finished by the end of the term. Subjects will range from still lifes to landscapes and possibly animals. Students will work not from other artists' paintings, but rather from photographs. Beginner and intermediate painters are welcome! Students will need to bring their own supplies. Supply List A $10 Artist Fee will be added to your registration fee to cover the cost of the artist instructor.

- Beginning Mah Jongg: Learning to move the tiles around

Learn the game of American Mah Jongg, as well as the game's history and cultural significance. In this interactive class, we will learn about the tiles, the 2026 National Mah Jongg League Card, game play and how Mah Jongg encourages storytelling and shared experiences. Students will need to purchase a 2026 Mah Jongg card; details provided upon registration.
This is a seven-week class beginning on September 16; class will not meet on October 28.

- Change your life through food. Join the Culinary Educator and Registered Dietitian of Spartanburg Regional's Culinary Medicine Program in their newly renovated teaching kitchen for a hands-on cooking series. In four classes we will cover eight or more different culinary techniques to make home-prepared meals easier, fun, and support optimal health. Leave with a full belly, leftovers, and raw foods to practice your skills at home. This is your chance to connect the dots for food as medicine, enjoy local foods when available, and ask the burning nutrition questions you and others may have. Attendees will receive an apron and cookbook. Please register only if you can commit to all four sessions. Students are responsible for their own transportation to the Gibbs Cancer Center located in Greer. A $40 fee will be added to your cart to cover the cost of food.

In this relaxed and fun class, we will present the basics of fly fishing technique, fishing equipment, fishery conservation, and traveling to fish. Ellen King, a certified casting instructor, and Joe Cheatham, fishing and equipment aficionado, will join us to enhance the classroom discussions and the casting practices. We will provide group and one-on-one instructions. This is a fun and relaxed way to learn about this beautiful sport or hone your existing skills. We will have 1-2 days of fishing on the water and a surprise guest or two. We hope you will leave the class with an appreciation for the sport and an interest in water and fishery conservation. Equipment will be provided for use, but if you have your own, please bring it to class. Everything in life is better when you are fishing!
