-
While it must adhere to many regulations, bourbon is as varied as America. This course will explore some of the history of and regulations behind bourbon and examine some of the truths, half-truths and mysteries about bourbon and its origin. We will taste some samples so we can attempt to identify variations in the spirit. You may supplement your knowledge by purchasing or borrowing the following recommended, optional book: "Whiskey Lore, Volume One" by Drew Hannush, ISBN 9781734865196. Please use your best judgement when registering - we want students who can sip, smile, and stand upright! A $30 tasting fee and a $5 food fee will be added to your registration to cover the cost of bourbon and nibbles.
This event is on Wofford's Campus. There is alcohol tasting during each class. Please be sure to eat lunch before coming to this event.

- The timeless charm of canasta. In an era where "grandma hobbies" are seeing a resurgence—from crochet to sourdough baking—canasta stands out as a perfect fit for the modern social scene. This classic card game has been a staple of living rooms and clubhouses for generations, and there is a reason for its enduring popularity. Unlike high-stakes poker or the intense silence required for bridge, canasta is inherently social. It is traditionally played with four people in two partnerships, using two decks of regular playing cards. This structure makes it the ultimate "chitchat" game. Because the strategies are engaging yet relatively simple, players can easily engage in a lively conversation, and an occasional cocktail!

Painting steps will be demonstrated using traditional palette colors on watercolor paper, usually 11"x15”. The sizes of the watercolor brushes should be scaled to the size of the paper.
