This class will be for people with little to no experience with using acrylic paints (or oil paints, for that matter) We WILL NOT be doing acrylic pouring or landscapes with blobs of paint, sponges, hair combs, and the like that you may have seen on YouTube, etc. Even though it is for beginners, there will be discussions and demonstrations of serious topics such as color theory and composition. Because the class will be only four weeks, the subject matter of the students' paintings will be chosen by the instructor. Remember, this is for learning purposes only. Add your own creative energy to future projects. The instructor is hoping that you will gain a little knowledge and have a lot of fun along the way.

- Developing your third eye: Learning how to see and pick subject matter
-
In this class, we will learn how to choose subject matter for your art project. We will cover composition, contrast, negative space, and the factors that make some photos just that, a great photograph and not a good subject matter. Google images will be used for this part of the lesson. We will delve into what mediums work best for what subject matter, as well as what surface to choose for your project. You will learn how to use and develop keywords for successful internet searches for reference images using search engines such as Google. We will explore sights, objects and nature outside of the classroom and around the campus (weather permitting) to help you see things as they are and not just as they are perceived. Each class session will end with a Q & A session, so you can build confidence and lean upon expert guidance in the development of your artistic "sight." Supply List: Notebook and pen. Cell phone with a camera is helpful but not required.
This is not a project-based class. This is an informational lecture format class.

- Learn How to Play the Card Game Hearts
-
Diana loves the card game of Hearts. Her sister let her play with her friends, which made her feel special. The game is simple to learn and exciting not knowing who had the Queen of Spades, or if someone planned to give everybody else 26 points. The winner has the least amount of points. If there is enough interest in playing Hearts, maybe we could start a club after the class and continue to play. The game of Hearts is a great game to play and teach your family over the holidays and family vacations or to play with friends.

- Sky Knights of WWI
-
Professor Lineberry will introduce the class to "Sky Knights of WWI" with short lectures about the new style of aerial warfare that was introduced to the Western Front between 1914 to 1918. The class will watch clips of "The Blue Max" and the "Dawn Patrol," as well as "Disney Goes to War." These videos will show the tactics used by pilots of these frail, cloth-covered wooden biplanes as they perform aerial maneuvers to get behind an opponent and then blast away with a synchronized machine gun. This warfare class will make use of 1/72 scale biplanes for German and British fighters. The aircraft will maneuver on a 12'x6' tabletop. The game is based on the classic "DOGFIGHT" by MB. Also, "Ace-of-Aces" bookcase game will add advanced tactics.

Talkin' Trash With Jes is designed to take the guesswork out of what goes in the recycling bin, and explain the science, politics, and emotional elements of "saving the planet." This course involves a mix of interactive discussions, visual demonstrations, and hands-on crafts, plus ends with a customized and easy-to-implement plan to live more sustainably in your daily life using knowledge gained from each session.
