  • Learn about an opportunity to help future pharmacists and veterinarians learn essential communication, exam, and other assessment skills. In this session, you will get an overview of the SP/SC Programs at CVM and CoP; learn how SP/SC programs benefit student professional development and assessment practices; learn how to become an SP/SC and the key skills needed; understand expectations of an SP/SC -commitment, training, payment, etc.; try out the role by reviewing a simple case; learn acting skills; practice feedback; etc.; and have fun role-playing as a patient/client.

  • The University of Georgia is establishing a new, independent School of Medicine, building on the success of the Augusta University / University of Georgia Medical Partnership, which has been educating physicians in Athens since 2010. Building a healthier Georgia starts by establishing a new, public medical school to train more doctors, provide more opportunities for students, and discover more ways to improve lives. This session will provide an overview, timeline, and need for the new school; brief history of the AU/UGA Medical Partnership and Health Sciences Campus; and an update on the new medical education and research building.

Join us for a three-part workshop series on healing through writing geared to those who want to write about their trauma but are unsure of how to get past the roadblocks of anger, sadness and grief. Using a framework of tools and strategies developed by cognitive behavioral therapists, tap into your emotions to turn pain into a superpower of descriptive storytelling.
