  • Earth Day 2025! Environmental Changes, Improvements, Degression, Facts: Can One Person Make an Impact?

  • Part 1: Our environment is ever changing and so are the people around us. Most people believe that one person can't make a difference; some want to make a difference with their personal 16,425 pounds of trash PER PERSON, PER YEAR and don't know how. Explore how simple changes can make your community look and smell better; learn how to support Zoo Atlanta and other organizations through E-waste recycling and save hundreds of pounds of trash from landfill and land destruction. Discuss the recycled materials that Novelis used to construct Georgia’s largest sustainable stadium (Mercedes-Benz Stadium) and why. Part 2: What is the value of the metal and e-waste lying around lakes, garages, basements or yards? We start with an historical survey regarding scrap recycling and its necessity for survival for Jewish families. You will learn the difference between ferrous vs. non-ferrous waste and the many classes of non-ferrous material. We will classify, price and bargain at the scales plus learn how to contact our political representatives in a tactful way to advocate for recycling. *Snacks will be provided, door prizes will be given away, and everyone will receive a Swag Bag.

  • The Enlightenment and Romanticism

  • The Enlightenment and Romanticism are the yin and yang of modern intellectual and cultural history. For more than two centuries, these two movements, and especially the “conversation” between them, has defined how we think about history, art, politics... and ourselves. Attendees will explore the origins and core ideas of the Enlightenment and how its very success gave rise to Romanticism. Initially a friendly correction of the Enlightenment’s supposed excesses, the Romantic movement became a passionate and hostile rival. The ongoing “conversation” between these complementary opposites remains an important, if often unnoticed, theme in both our public and private lives.
