Join us for a guided tour of the Lyndon House Arts Center that features a wide range of exhibitions and creative experiences. Visitors will see the work of Clarke County School District K–12 students in our biannual student exhibition that celebrates the creativity and talent of young artists from across the community. The tour will also include the expansive landscape works of Sarah Flinn and sculptural works by Eleanor Foy.
In the North Gallery, the Arts Center Choice Award exhibition will highlight the work of Francie Carson, while the Lounge Gallery features Phoebe-Agnes, the first curatorial exhibition by LHAC intern Jordon Myrick who developed it during her year at the Arts Center.
Guests will explore the galleries, enjoy a short tour of the historic house and, if time allows, take a behind-the-scenes look into our studio spaces.

In this class, we will consider Leonard Cohen's 9th studio album, The Future (1992). Written during a time that witnessed both the fall of the Berlin Wall and the Los Angeles riots following the arrest and beating of Rodney King, this album is more political than most of Cohen's works. Among other things, it offers meditations on the nature and state of American democracy that still seem pertinent over 30 years after the album's initial release. Discussion will focus on the tracks "Democracy," "The Future," and "Anthem," but we will also consider the shape and nature of the entire album as it offers insight into Cohen's career as a singer/songwriter/poet and into the state of the world then and now.

The American Constitution is based on classical liberal ideals: A system of representative democracy creating a marketplace of ideas for our various political parties. In this class, we follow historian Helena Rosenblatt as she guides us on a tour of the history of liberal ideas from ancient Rome, through the Enlightenment era, the U. S. Constitution, and the Progressive era. We explore how liberalism is currently being challenged by authoritarian leaders worldwide and share ideas about how the ideals of liberalism can still be made relevant in the modern era.
